A network of excellence
The Foundation Sciences Mathématiques de Paris is a network of excellence created in 2006. Its members are large research institutions in the Paris area: the universities of Pierre-et-Marie-Curie (UPMC) and Paris-Diderot (UPD P7), the Ecole Normale Supérieure (ENS), the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS), the university of Paris-Dauphine, the university of Paris-Descartes, the Collège de France and the INRIA.
Bringing together close to 1100 researchers in mathematical sciences and covering a wide spectrum which includes most of the top themes in fundamental and applied mathematics, plus fundamental computer science, the Foundation is unique in its field, both by its dimension and its scientific potential.

Caucher Birkar receives the Foundation's Prize 2010
The Foundation's Prize for year 2010 goes to Caucher Birkar, from University of Cambridge. His research fields are algebraic geometry and mathematical logic.

The Foundation's Research Chair goes for year 2010 to Sergiu Klainerman, Professor at Princeton and specialist of the Einstein Field Equations of General Relativity.

Paris Graduate School of Mathematical Sciences
Paris Graduate School of Mathematical Sciences (PGSM), is officially launched. It offers master scolarships to students having studied abroad. The call for applications is open from january 31 to march 4, 2010. More information about PGSM and the on-line application form can be found on the website: http://www.sciencesmaths-paris.fr/pgsm/

François Loeser receives an advanced grant from the European Research Council for the 2010-2014 period.

Jérémie Szeftel lectures
Jérémie Szeftel, the last recipient of the Foundation Prize is going to give a course from 10th of March to 26th of May 2010. The lectures will take place everey wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to 11h30 a.m. at the Collège de France's annexe located at 3 rue d'Ulm, Paris 5e. The course is going to be about the equations of General Relativity.
Cédric Villani receives the Henri Poincaré Prize
Cédric Villani, Professor in the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Lyon and Director of the IHP, receives the Henri Poincaré Prize for year 2009.

- 2010-04-14 - Premiere of Reine Graves & Edward Frenkel's film
- Rites of Love and Math is the first movie co-directed (with Reine Graves) and acted by mathematician Edward Frenkel, the first laureate of the Foundation's Research Chair. The premiere of the film will take place at Max Linder Panorama theater (24 bd Poissoniere, Paris 9e) on Wednesday, April 14 at 6 p.m..

- The next International Congress of Mathematicians will take place in Hyderabad, India, from 19th to 27th of August 2010. Jean-Michel Coron, Artur Avila and Claire Voisin, from the Foundation Sciences Mathématiques de Paris, will be there as plenary speakers.
